Amman, April 5th 2012
The Libyan minister of Education, Mr. Sulieman Alsaheli, visited the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) where he met with HRH Princess Rym Ali, toured its campus and got familiarized with its programs. He was joined by the Libyan minister to Jordan, Dr. Mohammed Al Bargathi.
The aim of the visit was to look into the possibilities of cooperation in the media education and training sectors, with emphasis on the Master’s Program in Journalism and New Media which JMI offers.

A contribution agreement was signed today between Jordan Media Institute JMI and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands launching a two-year project for monitoring and analyzing gender issues in the Jordanian daily print media and radio stations. Ambassador Piet de Klerk of the Netherlands and Mr. Radi Alkhas, JMI Chairman signed the agreement in the presence of JMI founder HRH Princess Rym Ali.

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Rym Ali and in the presence of high-ranking officials, academics and media representatives, the second intake of MA students graduated today. Twenty students earned their Master’s degree in Journalism and New Media, after a one-year intensive program in Arabic. Princess Rym, founder of the Institute, along with Dr. Adel Tweissi, President of the University of Jordan to which JMI is affiliated, and Dr. Abeer Al-Najjar, Dean of JMI, handed the diplomas to the students.

Jordan Media Institute hosted a group of experts and researchers to discuss stem cell research and its ethics in the Moslem world, a controversial issue not only in the Arab and Islamic countries but also in global forums. This panel comes as part of the JMI’s quest to contribute to the enrichment of open and constructive dialogue.

“Change is needed in the Arab region as whole; but how and what then?, said Lakhdar Brahimi, veteran Algerian diplomat and former UN envoy in a talk to students at the Jordan Media Institute’s last Thursday.

Abdelilah Khatib, former UN Special envoy to Libya and former Foreign Affairs Minister for Jordan, talked yesterday to MA students at the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) about the situation in Libya and the role of the United Nations. Princess Rym Ali, founder of JMI attended the talk. The floor was then open for questions that focused on Khatib’s reading of the future of Libya and of other uprisings in the region.
It is worth mentioning that Khatib had taught the first students intake at JMI who graduated a year ago.
