The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) in partnership with Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) has announced the <a href="../../../mediastorage/documents/Human Rights Award - English 03.pdf">“Human Rights Reporting Award 2015”</a>, the first human rights journalism award in Jordan, under the project “Expanding the Public Dialogue on Human Rights Issues through the Media”. The award will go to the two best human rights stories and will be announced at an official ceremony during September, 2015. Each winner will receive media equipment.<br />

The Human Rights Reporting Award aims at encouraging the production of high quality human rights journalism in Jordan that can have a positive impact within communities through promoting a constructive public dialogue around human rights issues.<br />
<br />
Journalists are invited to submit one or a collection of stories from print and online media that highlight a human rights issue of their concern. Journalists are encouraged, but not required, to have included elements of data journalism.<br />
<br />
Stories must have been published in either Arabic or English during the period from August 1, 2014 through August 30, 2015. The submission deadline for the award is September 1, 2015. A PDF copy of the published story should be submitted along with a URL address of an appropriate website that contains the story for online stories.<br />

Applicants are invited to fill out the <a href="../../../mediastorage/documents/Human Rights Reporting Award Form - (NGO 01) 28.07.2015.xlsx">submission form</a> and email their entries to <a href="mailto:hraward@jmi.edu.jo">hraward@jmi.edu.jo</a>, and a confirmation receipt shall be sent.<br />
<br />
The criteria of evaluation will be based on the degree of difficulty in obtaining content, effective use of news outlet including clarity and narrative, the breadth and scope of research undertaken, the degree of change or action created from news coverage, and supporting material and resources used including creativity, originality and innovative reporting tools, such as data journalism.<br />
<br />
The judging committee will consist of representatives from national and international media, civil society and academia.
