JMI Students Conclude a Virtual Course in “International Media & Peace Building”

<div> <p> May 23rd 2013<br /> <br /> In a collaborative learning experience among students enrolled in Bellarmine University (USA) Jordan Media Institute (Jordan) and Rafik Hariri University (Lebanon), the &ldquo;International Media &amp; Peace Building&rdquo; class explored the media&rsquo;s role in shaping ideas about cultural identity and conflict in a cross cultural conversation in a virtual classroom.<br /> <br /> Students Mohammad Mousa, Mohammed Alwan, Takwa Masadeh, Shahd Bani Odeh and Tamara Khozouz received a certificate of participation from the Institute for Media, Culture and Ethics from Bellarmine University School of Communication.<br /> <br /> The course was conducted using state of the art video technology, in face-to-face conversations with other students about how international media play a role in the formation of political attitudes.<br /> <br /> The course included discussions about how news media, digital and print, photojournalism, social media, film, and other means of public storytelling, can shape social attitudes about conflict resolution, forgiveness, and about how what is communicated, forms what can be called public and popular culture.<br /> <br /> It is worth mentioning that JMI offers a Master&rsquo;s Degree in journalism and New Media in collaboration with the University of Jordan and is accepting applications for the 2013/2014 academic year till the 13th of June 2013.</p> </div>
