JMI Students Start Trip to Norway

17 May 2015<br /> <br /> Jordan Media Institute (JMI) Master&rsquo;s students began a week-long academic trip to Norway on Sunday 17 May, organized by the Norwegian Institute of Journalism (IJ) and funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<br /> <br /> During the visit, the third to Norway since 2013, the students will be introduced to the Norwegian local democracy model and the role of public and private media in society and in dealing with issues related to refugees and asylum seekers.<br /> <br /> The group of 18 students from the thesis track will also meet with politicians, legislators, journalists and students in Oslo and Fredrikstad, where IJ is located. They will also visit the Nobel Institute and meet with its director Olav Njolstad.<br /> <br /> Also on the program is a visit to the University of Oslo where the students will meet Norwegian Middle East social science students and visit a center for asylum seekers.<br /> <br /> The trip is part of JMI&rsquo;s programs to expose students to other cultures and practices in their field of study.<br /> <br /> Their colleagues in the comprehensive track had visited Sweden in March. The trip was organized by Journalists Without Borders and funded by the Swedish Postcode Lottery Cultural Foundation.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
