Jordan Media Institute appoints New Dean

<br /> <strong>Saturday 6 July, 2013</strong><br /> <br /> The board of directors at the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) appointed Dr. Basim Mohammed Tweissi as Dean of the Institute as of the month of July 2013.<br /> <br /> Dr. Tweissi obtained a PhD in Mass Communication and Journalism Studies and is an associate Professor in the department of media and strategic studies. He was the director of the center for studies, consultations and community development at the University of Al-Hussein Bin Talal (AHU) and advisor to (AHU) President for Cultural Affairs.<br /> <br /> Dr. Tweissi is a commentator and columnist at AlGhad daily Jordanian newspaper, an expert on local development and media affairs both nationally and internationally, and a previous member of the higher media council. He has published six books, in addition to editing and reviewing several others. He also published many research studies in international scientific journals. He is a founding member of a number of committees and civil society organizations in Jordan.<br /> <br /> Dr. Tweissi was appointed successor to the former Dean Dr. Mohammed Hussein Al-Momani, Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications after assuming ministerial tasks in the current government. While Dr. Jean Gebran Karam has served as acting Dean of the Jordan Media Institute during the transition period.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> JMI aims to become an unparalleled Centre of Excellence in Jordan and the Middle East to help improve the standards, raise the integrity and rebuild public trust in journalism in Jordan and the region at large. Our Master&rsquo;s program in Journalism and New Media in cooperation with the University of Jordan, which feature practical training, innovative curricula and world-class facilities, will enable our graduates to become professional world class journalists. JMI also offers specialized training courses for working Journalists and those interested in the field.<br /> &nbsp;
