Jordan Media Institute Organizes Media Training Workshops in the Governorates

<div>Sunday 18 August 2013<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Today marks the start of a series of training workshops in the governorates of Aqaba, AlTaiba (Petra), Madaba, and Mafraq. The Workshops are organized by JMI in cooperation with UNESCO Jordan, as part of a one year joint project.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Each workshop will last for two days, where participants are to be trained on writing specialized reports for the municipal elections and political participation and its impact on the local community, in addition to understanding the importance of the media in raising the awareness of citizens as active players in municipal elections.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The training workshops include many practical exercises on documenting elections, the views of the public about the elections&rsquo; process, and the role of education and the municipality in observing and monitoring the elections&rsquo; process, while also evaluating the performance of the municipality after being elected. Participants will also be exposed to the concepts of the municipal elections community and legislation governing the electoral process and how to differentiate between fact and opinion, as well as to identify the values ​​and techniques of journalistic work and its applications.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> The workshops are being organized in cooperation with The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) through its center&rsquo;s located throughout the Jordanian governorates, where the workshops are taking place. The workshops are part of a project entitled &quot;Media and Elections&quot; implemented by JMI in cooperation with local partners under the auspices of UNESCO and with the support of the European Union.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> JMI seeks to contribute to improving media outputs and improving the reputation and image of the Journalism profession locally and regionally by offering a Master&#39;s program in journalism and new media, in collaboration with the University of Jordan, in addition to offering specialized training courses to those working in the field.<br /> &nbsp;</div>
