Welcoming JMI's Second Students Intake

25 Oct 2010

Amman, 24-10-2010, “Nations were ranked according to their industrial development, today’s measure of development is the ability to get information and make use of it. We are now in the era of knowledge-based education”, with these words Dr. Adel Al-Tweissi, President of Jordan University, welcomed the second students intake for the Masters Programme in Journalism that the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) offers in collaboration with Jordan University. Dr. Al- Tweissi praised JMI after checking its curriculum and touring its campus, stressing “the importance of JMI’s practical approach to teaching which doesn’t rely solely on instruction but on the students’ ability to analyze, criticize and understand.” HRH Princess Rym Ali, founder of JMI, attended the ceremony alongside JMI’s Board of Directors and the Faculty. In her words to the students, Princess Rym stressed that JMI offers an intensive programme in journalism. This programme focuses on the practical aspects and digital media, and is quite demanding from the students who work under the supervision of highly qualified professors. Princess Rym also expressed the hope that JMI graduates will eventually contribute to the revival of the Jordanian and Arab Media sector thanks to their newly acquired skills. 20 students- 13 from Jordan and seven from Palestine- joined today a one-year Masters Programme taught in Arabic. The students have been chosen after undertaking a series of tests. It is also worth mentioning that JMI’s first students intake will be graduating soon, after completing the academic requirements.
